Author Name: Christian-Michelle Dickerson

Book Title: “The Razor and the Mirror”

Published: July 2011

Book ISBN #: 978-0-615-17893-6

Genre: Non-Fiction

Hot Topic: Child Abuse

Why You Should Get a Copy of “The Razor and the Mirror”

In order for the story to come across the way the author wanted it to, he had to tell it just as it happened, word for word, incident by incident. This is, without a doubt, the most intimate story I have ever read, told from the heart of a child. One that will tug at the heart strings of the reader. The story about a child abused and abandoned by most. Befriended by a few and finding little salvation even from God. The Razor and the Mirror will haunt you for the remainder of your life. The reader will never again look at a child and assume that all is well in that child’s life. If the fact that this is a true story isn’t compelling enough, then dwell on, if only for a moment, what you have read and try to convince yourself that horrors such as those written about in this book no longer occur in today’s society. The language is at times jolting, the message however is abundantly clear. Never, never again should anyone be able to violate the innocence of children. Once read, those who will read The Razor and the Mirror will never again be able to see a brutalized child and not act, nor will they be able to hear the cries of a little one and remain silent. “Moving. Revealing. Powerful! Christian-Michelle is on a mission from God to eradicate the pain and suffering of abuse victims. Bobby’s story, The Razor and the Mirror, needs to be heard in every corner of the earth. His story is a rich and complex story that leaves the reader saddened but also hopeful. It is highly recommended to those that are empowered to become effective advocates for the sufferer.”

Author Bio:

He hails from New York City and was raised in Harlem during the turbulent years of the Civil Rights movement on 129th street between Madison and Park. There he was exposed to great men and women of color such as, Langston Hughes, who often sat with Christian-Michelle on the steps of his Harlem Brownstone and read to him, Sugar Ray Robinson, Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella, Willie Mays played stick ball with him, Etta James, James Baldwin, Claude Brown, Rose Morgan and the most honorable man that he ever met, Malcolm X, whom he saw often walking the streets of Harlem.

“I thought he was the greatest thing to happen to the Black Race,” Christian-Michelle once said. He went on, “After his death I could never again walk past Unity Funeral Home without remembering the horrible cold of that day I spent standing in line with hundreds of other people of color waiting to view his body. That day was so very cold and wet. I believe the movement became frozen in time, no more progress for men of color and the world of coloreds cried because life for people of color would never again be the same.”

“It was the beginning of the Vietnam War and the end of solidarity between the races of color. “They,” he stated, “fought to be integrated into a white world, then separated themselves by education and class and practiced segregation among one another. This affected me in ways that I never thought would occur in my life time. The battle had just begun, and they gave up what could have been the high ground, and lost the war. They are, without a doubt, divided and conquered.”

Without having the Entertainment Value of well- known celebrities who bring name recognition, curiosity and humor to serious problems, this small Self-Help Manual specifically cites 10 reasons, when followed will greatly increase your likelihood for a Successful Long Term Union.

Knowing the truth is valuable and when Individuals accept their own Shortcomings and or lack of abilities, they are more rational and objective when judging others. This leads to more informed decisions when selecting a proper mate.

This book/manual highlights Useful Advice in 10 different domains. Each one contributes significant clues for a solid relationship.

Many celebrities are looked at and admired, followed or believed in, simply because of their popularity and High Profile exposure, in the Public Spotlight.

Their lives are far different from the majority of ours, for obvious reasons. While the average Joe or Jane cannot live there luxurious lifestyles, their feelings and desires are equally as important to us. Don’t we deserve to be happy with our Significant Other?

This manual identifies both subtle and overt signs that will, when interpreted correctly, will guide you to good social and private decision making.

The 10 Reasons are inherently based on Mankind’s Human Nature- which to date, has not and arguably, will never be changed. If you follow the information revealed in the manual, just 80% of the time, you will be wiser and more contented.

The author admittedly adheres to what he has written in 10 REASONS WHY RELATIONSHIPS FAIL, and as a result, has indicated that he never becomes angry, depressed, vindictive or physically or emotionally ill—due to a breakup with a significant other. Why? Because he has seen the signs, and attempts to do what is mutually beneficial for he and his companion.

“Life is short,” says Dr. Smith. “Enjoy the good times each day, as much as possible, in the right way. And, be patent until Mr. or Mrs. Right arrives.”

According to Dr. Smith, reader should become wiser, more knowledgeable and happier after understanding and applying the clues obtained from 10 REASONS WHY RELATIONSHIPS FAIL.

Description: No Longer Silent by Tammy Gagnon

Tammy woke up one night to find her paternal grandfather kneeling beside the bed, his hand stroking her private parts. He warned her to be quiet or risk “getting her ass whipped.” That touching quickly escalated to oral sex and other intimacies.

Tammy Gagnon was just nine year old when this molestation filled her young mind with guilt and rage.

Like so many other victims of this horrendous crime, she felt the blame was hers—not her abusers. Under the strict rule that “what happens in our house stays in our house,” and could not be discussed even with other family members, Tammy could not fill her desperate need to share her distress.

Despite her dysfunctional home life—the physical abuse of family members by her alcoholic father, and the austerity of her rigid mother who cloaked every controversy with silence—Tammy’s early childhood was relatively comfortable. She was well-behaved at home and an “A” student in school.

At age 14, as her body began to mature and her emotional needs changed, the consequences of the trauma bottled-up within her became evident. Tammy ran away from home with a carnival roust-about. The drinking she had begun a year earlier had increased, and her addiction to drugs began soon after.

Over the next five years, Tammy ran away from home repeatedly, in a frantic search for a way to expunge the furies that ravaged her mind. She hungered for someone who would listen to her and give her the support and comfort she needed to overcome these memories.

Each episode ended in utter frustration, as her teenage dreams were shattered by the increasing intensity of her addictions. She was raped at knife point, beaten fiercely and frequently jailed. Her suicide attempts failed. She was forced to collect aluminum cans for income and finally began to sell her body for crack. She gave birth to three daughters. Her mother raised the oldest, and Tammy somehow managed to support the two younger ones.

When it was impossible to fall any lower, Tammy began a long, slow climb back to normalcy. This was initiated by her short-lived involvement with a church. She had also been nurtured by the one man who loved her deeply enough to sacrifice his life for she and her daughters. Some time later, he was sentenced to prison for armed burglary when he resorted to holding-up small retail businesses, after futile attempts to find work.

At peace at last, Tammy’s search for a wizard to wave away her inner turmoil ended. She has learned to value herself, and knows that she alone has the ability to restructure her life. “I am no longer ashamed of my past,” she writes in her book No Longer Silent, “I have turned from victim to victor.”

Tammy is the Author of “No Longer Silent,” as well as a speaker for many women’s sexual abuse, addiction and crisis organizations. She is thriving in Virginia, as a mother and grandmother, happier than she’s ever been.

She has made it her life mission to use her dark past shared in her novel and upcoming Feature Film for Television Movie, “No Longer Silent,” to help others find inspiration & hope. “I encourage them by my own journey of turning my life around and finding happiness. I share my life lessons about forgiving and rebuilding with the hopes that they know they have the ability to do the same.”

My book explains the concept of strangers in a kid-friendly way. Multiple choice solutions to potentially dangerous situations involving strangers engage both children and parents and present effective strategies for taking precautions and staying safe. Games and puzzles in the book reinforce the lessons learned. A chapter for parents presents tactics for reassuring their children and protecting them from potential threat. I teach school workshops based upon in the book.
